Lisa Goldin “Lisa Goldin Turned Fantasy into Feeling in the Epic Piano Pop Ballad ‘How Love Can Start’
By Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory
With How Love Can Start, Lisa Goldin channels the kind of emotion that could shatter silence in a stadium or breathe warmth into a dark theatre. The South African-born, UAE-based artist knows exactly how to evoke emotion through the interplay of her piano progressions and the euphoric romanticism in her harmonies. There’s a magnitude in her vocal presence that carries the power of Broadway without tipping into the theatrical. Her delivery remains intimate, even when it feels monumental.
There’s something sentimentally spectral about the dreamy way she takes the phenomenon of love and portrays it as a liveable fantasy, one that we all have the potential to touch. This life may not be a fairytale, but within epic piano pop ballads such as How Love Can Start, we can briefly feel the blissfully safe emotion ebb and flow as we explore and appreciate the beauty and possibility of sparking new connections.
With a global presence spanning London, Ibiza, Dubai and beyond, Lisa Goldin has earned her place alongside international icons. Whether gracing stages with Ed Sheeran or fronting events from the Coca-Cola Arena to UEFA finals, her reach speaks volumes. But How Love Can Start shows that behind the accolades and airplay, her focus is firmly rooted in human emotion, delivered through music that was made to matter.

Lisa Goldin “How Love Can Start” Is for That One That Got Away
By Laurelanne Davis
Let’s talk about the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t leave you sobbing in bed with a pint of something frozen and self-pitying. I’m talking about the kind that lingers—years later. The kind that catches you off guard at 2 a.m. with a name in your mouth and a memory you swore you were over. Lisa Goldin’s “How Love Can Start” gets that heartbreak. And she doesn’t try to dress it up or shake it off—she sits in it. Quietly. Honestly. With a voice that doesn’t need to beg, just breathe.
From the first line—“Isn’t it funny how / We remember different things”—I felt my own past creeping in. The version of the story I kept in my back pocket vs. the one he told at parties. And maybe that’s the point. There’s a kind of electricity in knowing you’re both holding different memories but still feeling the same shake in your hands when you reconnect.
Lisa doesn’t over-sing it, doesn’t over-build the production. It’s piano-led, minimal, delicate. The restraint makes it hurt more, honestly. Her voice is soft, but there’s steel under it. You can feel it in “No one stole your heart / And I’m still lost at sea”—like she’s naming the exact distance between two people who’ve never fully let go but still can’t reach each other.
This track isn’t about screaming for closure or burning the past down. It’s about that almost. That slow dance with maybe. That whispered question: “Is that how love can start?”
The chorus is deceptively simple: “And what if we made / This moment last / Put time aside / Wiped out our pasts”—and by the third time she sings it, you’re not just hoping she gets her second chance, you’re thinking about your own. Like, what if I hadn’t ghosted him when I got scared? What if we’d both just said what we needed to say?
But she’s not delulu about it. The bridge is all quiet self-protection: “Try not give too much away / Hold back look the other way”—and damn if that didn’t feel too real. The push-pull of wanting something and not trusting it. Of being older, wiser, but still a little raw.
Lisa Goldin isn’t new to this. She’s a South African-born powerhouse with twelve songs already airing on international TV and radio. She’s shared stages with Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Scouting for Girls… yeah, the resume’s stacked. But what makes this song hit isn’t the name drops. It’s the intimacy. It’s the feeling that she’s lived this, carried it across time zones—from London to Ibiza to Dubai—and still finds herself circling back to one boy from school.
I could list her awards—the Best Band win in Beijing, her theatrical work in Dubai, the Golden Visa from UAE Culture—but here’s what matters in this moment: she wrote a ballad that sounds like the inside of your chest when you see him again after all these years, and you still know his smell, his smile, and exactly how it felt the last time he touched your arm.
So yeah. If you’ve ever laid in bed at night, wondering if you’d get a do-over—and not the chaotic kind, but the kind with open eyes and scar tissue—you need to hear this. Lisa’s not asking for fairy tales. She’s asking if they can finally meet in the same memory and maybe, just maybe… see how love can start.

Dubai-based singer Lisa Goldin: “Take your time to get to know”
By Musivv
The pop balladeer betting on slow-burning chemistry over instant hits.
It is easy to mistake Lisa Goldin’s musical catalogue for a polished time capsule of love ballads and layered drama.
What it is, in fact, is a series of deliberate choices: moments where production restraint does not mean creative scarcity, and emotional storytelling is valued over clickbait crescendos.
Her latest single, How Love Can Start, is not an accidental anthem. “I wrote it in about thirty minutes to an hour,” she says, as if writing a track that’s now being shared across continents is a casual Tuesday activity. Then came the studio work—four recording sessions, two mastering rounds, and an almost religious commitment to leaving the message intact.
“The production is based on simplicity for the song to speak for itself.”
Goldin, raised across South Africa, the UK, and now based in Dubai, may carry the résumé of someone schooled in global pop theatrics, but she does not manufacture her music for virality. Her world is one of res firma—firm ground in intent, even if the industry shifts beneath her. “I don’t write music for universal resonance because the song would lose its intent,” she says. “The meaning is still very much the same for me.”
That does not mean she is disconnected from her audience. Far from it. But for Goldin, resonance is a side effect, not a KPI. “Knowing my audience now relates to How Love Can Start is the loveliest feeling,” she admits, but quickly clarifies:
“I don’t like influencing that moment because it’s theirs to have.”
The song itself is inspired by a story too sweet to be engineered—a friend rekindling a teenage crush after ten years. How Love Can Start might sound like a fairytale for the Spotify set, but its emotional architecture is built on precision. “The song needs to breathe,” she says, describing how she arranges orchestral swells against stark piano-led verses. Visualisation plays a key role. “I imagine performing the song and taking the audience on a journey. From there, I can feel where the crescendos and stand-alone spotlights land.”

Goldin has had her maximalist moments. Her previous single, Something I Used to Wear, took over three years and 50+ vocal layers to complete. A layered affair for a lyric about discarded clothes and discarded people—what she once called “comedic-sadness.” But the new single is leaner, if no less expressive. Think less Baz Luhrmann, more Greta Gerwig—emotive, but with just the right amount of restraint.
Still, the international scale of today’s music industry, flooded with over 120,000 new tracks per day according to Luminate, forces every artist to answer an implicit question: Is emotional subtlety still scalable? Goldin’s answer is refreshingly analog. “Trust the process,” she offers. “Time reveals all.”
For her, cultural identity shows up less in instrumentation and more in attitude. “I’ve lived in the UK, UAE, and South Africa. My friends are from everywhere,” she shrugs. “But the biggest lesson I’ve learned? People are the same everywhere. Being kind, loving and honest are the colours of the mosaic that really shape me.”
It is a sort of carpe diem with boundaries. She admits the album Something I Used To Wear—which How Love Can Start closes—marks a transition into mutual, rather than one-sided, relationships. “Perhaps the meeting of two minds that are both willing to start again,” she says.
“Let better choices, better self-care, and better loving lead the way.”
Goldin is not immune to industry pressure. “It takes courage launching an album of my stories,” she confesses. But she remains committed to building a catalogue that ages with her, not past her. “Being fearless in studio—that’s the running theme of this album,” she adds, laughing about her final vocal take requiring “lots of deep breaths and patience.”
So what line does she hope gets tattooed on a stranger’s heart? Without hesitation: “Take your time to get to know.” It is not a pop hook. It is an emotional pre-nup.
And in a culture of instant gratification, that alone feels radical.

LISA GOLDIN Delivers Excellent Power-Pop Ballad in Single “How Love Can Start”
By Our Sound Music
Lisa Goldin’s latest single, ‘How Love Can Start’ is a captivating piano pop ballad that weaves a delicate balance of emotional depth and universal resonance. The South African-born, UK-based artist delivers a track that feels both intimate and grandiose, showcasing her ability to transform the complexities of love into a sonic experience that lingers.
From the opening notes, Goldin’s piano progressions set a dreamy, almost ethereal tone, creating a foundation for her evocative vocals. Her voice carries a Broadway-esque power, yet it remains grounded in vulnerability, avoiding the pitfalls of over-theatricality. The song’s strength lies in its ability to capture the tentative hope of rekindled romance – “what if” moment that feels both fearless and fragile. Lyrics like those described in reviews, wrestling with cautious optimism against past heartaches, evoke the sensation of rediscovering a pressed flower in an old book: beautiful, intact, but delicate enough to make you hold your breath.
The production is restrained yet purposeful, allowing the narrative to breathe. It builds a sense of hesitant intimacy, reflecting the tension between unspoken history and the pull of new possibilities. Goldin’s songwriting doesn’t lean on melodrama; instead, it embraces a quiet intensity that makes the listener feel the weight of love’s gamble—terrifying, beautiful, and worth every ounce of vulnerability. The track’s ability to portray love as a “liveable fantasy” is particularly striking, offering a sentimentally spectral take on connection that feels universally relatable.
With her global presence—having performed alongside icons like Ed Sheeran and at venues like the Coca-Cola Arena, Goldin proves she’s not just a performer but a storyteller who channels raw human emotion. ‘How Love Can Start’ is a testament to her craft, blending euphoric romanticism with a grounded sense of hope. This single is a must-listen for anyone who’s ever stood at the precipice of love, wondering if they should leap.
In short, ‘How Love Can Start’ is a beautifully crafted pop ballad that invites listeners to feel the ebb and flow of love’s possibilities, making it a standout in Goldin’s growing discography. Lisa Goldin also has a shop, where fans and curious listener alike can be amongst the first to have access to future releases. You can visit here.
Fearless & Fragile: Lisa Goldin’s “How Love Can Start”
By Music Arena GH
Lisa Goldin’s new single, “How Love Can Start,” has a way of sneaking up on you, much like the scenario it so tenderly sketches: that jolt of an old flame reigniting. It’s less a grand pronouncement and more an intricate, slightly trembling look at love’s potential encore.
“Great news for GoldinFans! Lisa Goldin just launched her very own GoldinShop find it at CLICK-HERE, where fans can access her music directly. And that’s not all – the shop includes an exclusive pre-launch of her upcoming third album, “Something I Used To Wear”! This is the place for fans to be.”
Goldin, described as a fearless artist, certainly doesn’t shy away from the raw, awkward core of this. We’re talking about that peculiar human dance: the mutual recognition that time, the great eroder, somehow missed this particular connection. There’s a shared, palpable nervousness, a quiet admission that other romantic avenues led to cul-de-sacs, leaving both parties standing here, now, with this unexpected echo.
This is where the song really digs its heels in. The lyrics wrestle with that tantalising, terrifying “what if,” that cautious hope pressing against the scar tissue of past hurts. It’s the emotional equivalent of finding a delicate, pressed flower in a book you haven’t opened for years – still beautiful, surprisingly intact, but you’re almost afraid to breathe on it. That frisson of “could this be it, this time?” resonates with an almost uncomfortable truth.
As a pop ballad, “How Love Can Start” doesn’t bludgeon you with melodrama; instead, its strength lies in building a sense of hesitant intimacy. The production lets the story breathe, capturing that almost unbearable tension between unspoken history and the present, tentative desire. It’s in the careful consideration, the impulse to hold back clashing with the urge to dive in. That “curious adrenaline” of a first spark, as the notes put it? Yes, that captures the odd buzz precisely.
The song taps into that universal feeling of wondering if love, truly great love, is always this blend of terrifying and beautiful, a gamble worth every last shred of vulnerability. Goldin leaves you with the weight of that possibility, that tiny, insistent beat of a question: if you open that door just a crack, what exactly is waiting to step through?

Lisa Goldin Shares Intimate and Theatrical Single, How Love Can Start, As Well As Cohesive and Emotive Album, Something I Used To Wear
by KIMU
Drawing us in with an intricate and emotive piano performance, Lisa Goldin opens How Love Can Start with theatrical nuance and a series of questions preceded by the hook, “Isn’t it funny how?” The star asks, “Isn’t it funny how we remember different things, isn’t it funny how a spark still exists, isn’t it funny how age don’t change a thing, isn’t it funny how our nerves are both shaking…”
Her philosophical depth is tangible, and we appreciate the introspective nature of the artist and how open and authentic she is with her soul. There is a poetic prowess and emotional core that transmutes with Lisa’s work and the intimate portrait that she paints feels relatable.
How Love Can Start involves two people that once knew each other well, and have run into each other after a long time. While the protagonists may have aged, their emotions remain constant. There is an undeniable spark between them, and it has them wondering if they can start something together, even though things ended so badly in the past.
They are soaked in nervousness and insecurity, and the song grants them a fantasy where they could lose their memories of the past, of pain or mistakes, and concentrate only on what they feel at this moment. It’s hopeful and tender and painful. It’s a song about second chances, unarticulated emotions and the promise of a fresh start.
How Love Can Start comes from Lisa Goldin‘s brand new album, Something I Used To Wear, out today, which is a cohesive masterpiece with brilliant instrumentation and a soulful authenticity that transmutes through Lisa’s prose and captivating timbre.

How Love Can Start by Lisa Goldin: Review
With “How Love Can Start,” Lisa Goldin offers a heartfelt, emotionally rich pop ballad that gently peels back the layers of love, memory, and longing. Released on May 16, 2025, as the eighth track off her upcoming third album, the single continues Goldin’s tradition of infusing vulnerability with melodic strength.
Following the charting success of HeartBeat, which held positions for over 20 weeks across South African charts, “How Love Can Start” feels like a mature continuation of Goldin’s sonic journey. Only now it’s more introspective.
The song opens with soft, sparkling, delicate yet emotionally loaded piano notes. Goldin’s vocals soon follow, low and pensive at first, building slowly into a soaring, expressive performance. Her voice is a striking blend of tenderness and ache, echoing the lyrical theme of wondering whether love, once sparked, can begin anew. As the track progresses, the heartbeat-like rhythm and subtle string layers create a growing sense of emotional weight, supported by atmospheric backing vocals that lend the song a sweeping cinematism.
“How Love Can Start” has also filled the lyrics with intimate recollections, “Isn’t it funny how / A spark still exists,” setting up the emotional tension that the chorus gently releases. The central question, “What if we made this moment last… is that how love can start?” captures a universal yearning for connection amidst emotional baggage and personal evolution.
From a production standpoint, “How Love Can Start” is polished but never sterile. Producer Stoyan Storn Stoyanov focuses on the emotional arc of the vocals while layering subtle textures, strings that writhe like unresolved feelings, and ambient echoes that evoke distance or longing.
“How Love Can Start” gets us pausing, reflecting, and asking—what if we gave love another chance?
Lisa Goldin Conquers Even More Territory With New Single
Lisa Goldin is a seasoned artist. British, her career spans South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, as well as shows in places like London, Ibiza, Dubai and Asia, where she has shared the stage with names like Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Scouting For Girls and Barbara Tucker. Not to mention appearances on charts, radio and TV, which has made her soar in her almost twenty-year career.
But getting to the top isn’t the hardest part when you have to stay there. And that’s what she aims to do with her latest single, the sentimental “How Love Can Start.” The song has profound lyrics that reflect today’s interpersonal relationships, in a world of little forgiveness, established idiosyncrasies, endless slip-ups and types of prerequisites… but with a touch of hope and that feeds real feelings. That’s why beauty reigns here.
With a sentimental melody, the song begins with a piano base, which is enough to give it a certain sophistication. It soon gains a pop beat, sounding comprehensive and easy to assimilate. Lisa’s beautiful vocals, which are somewhere between avant-garde and current, are the cherry on the cake, enchanting everyone who listens to her. With “How Love Can Start”, she conquers even more space!

Lisa Goldin’s “How Love Can Start” Review”
By Mastria
Listening to “How Love Can Start” by Lisa Goldin often feels like a happening hug for your heart. Her music which is created in the UK and draws upon her roots in South Africa and the UAE, seems to address you personally. Since I always look for songs that move me, this lovely pop ballad added just the right amount of intimacy and atmosphere of grandeur.
I was immediately attracted to the composition by its warm piano opening. Lisa’s singing comes in, both strong and entrancing, as if she is revealing a secret about the beauty and fragility of love. Gentle piano notes blend into the music and the low drums move the melody with a comfortable rhythm, making the music both current and traditional. The song stops you, encourages you to reflect with your eyes closed and reminds you of both the joy of new crushes and the disappointments of those who moved on.
The Song Was Created By Lisa Goldin and produced by Stoyan Storn Stoyanov At VST Music Studios, and it sounds both refined and natural, giving Lisa’s story plenty of room to stand out. I admire how the song shows how messy love can be when it is alive. It involves being excited about the unknown, dealing with those scary “who knows what will happen?,” and having the strength to keep going after some wounds. I remembered my own hesitant hopes, when love was scary but still worth trying. When the arrangement grows and the fast tempo and cheerful melody take over, it almost becomes the sound of those first happy moments.
Lisa has shared the stage with big names like Ed Sheeran and her music tells you why. The song brings me back to why I love music—it lets me feel my biggest feelings without any worry. This track is quite special, designed to make you feel the warm, sparking feelings again.
You can access Lisa Goldin’s music directly at her [GoldinShop], where you can enjoy her album “Something I Used To Wear”, which was released on May 30th.

Goldin’s global career spans the UK, UAE, and Asia, earning awards like Best Theatrical Performance at the 2013 Time Out Dubai Nightlife Awards.
But more than all that, it’s her voice that sticks out. There’s range, depth, and something that just feels quite raw and honest. Her latest single “How Love Can Start” is a beautiful example that. Lisa Goldin crafts a soft piano-driven pop tune that eases into your day like sunlight through a window.
