Hi GoldinFans

Happy third album day :>

The first blog draft was meant to be short and sweet…but as I watched the links go live each hour, found myself playing the entire album at 5am Friday morning, woke up four hours later to tackle press emails, ran off to perform at Atlantis, bounced back home waiting for the final ones to be published Saturday at 3am (now!)…well, the more emotional this realisation became…reviews started to roll in and the memories of writing each song dawned me into a different timezone!

Kinda weird listening back on yourself, whilst chuckling away at the courage and audacity of speaking such truth, apparently!  An independent artist does require such a discipline of being and managing thee artist. The separation albeit biased, or as I call it [self] belief, haha, is the best driving force!

Anyway…I’d had high hope to release “Something I Used To Wear” Album shortly after 2020 – but we all know how our goals went out the window that year. By this point, “Hope”, “Three Days”, “Tell Me”, “Apparently”, “Just Right” (Goldilocks Theme)”, “Something I Used To Wear” were already recorded, the first two songs mentioned, were released. I felt sooo disappointed and guilty not being able to release this album faster for you, my GoldinFans. However, as reality sunk in that I am in fact only human, that it was more than okay to do this at whatever pace was manageable, for me. So I slowed down. Part of that movement was a day-by-day assessment. Funnily enough, I found that the single-by-single release was actually a fabulous concentration and we dedicated timeless creativity into the production. Still not a fan of chasing royalties and understanding algorithms – constant reminder to spend time at the piano writing, and not for screentime! The 2020 learning was something else,,,bringing to head of ‘stuff’ hanging on…so as each song came to life…with this I shed a lot anxiety, doubt, disruptive ties and the yes-gal. Though during this time I have also single-handedly been able to build crucial relationships with radio and press – I love you for all you do, thank you! This albums means so much to me.

I know, I know…cue…MUSIC!

[Updated weekly]

The gutspa has always been within in me…and encouraged by the four parents I am blessed to have.

Pause.

An ode.

Last week, my foster Mum left us after a long battle with Diabetes. Juggling a double campaign whilst processing her passing over, a million miles from home was heartbreaking to say the least. Thing is, I have seen her dancing around me whilst I’ve performed or played my new album in the last week. Awesome seeing you’re finally free, Quilley. [It’s a thing…I feel the spirits…she kinda of nudged me saying…”well, are you going to finish what you started?!] So the gutspa kicked in and away we go, even with tears in my eyes.

Looking back on the last two weeks…
