Ladies and Gentlemen
Hello world! Hope you’re doing well.
Since my last blog Seasons of Love, I have finished up performing in Beijing and moved on to Abu Dhabi, UAE with Liquid Band (http://www.el-live.com/liquid.shtml). It’s a wicked little town and the people have been incredibly welcoming at Jazz Bar, Hilton Hotel. With just one month left working here, I reflect on the last few years of being on tour with various bands, venues and agencies through Europe, Asia and Africa.
Since 2008; written and launched my debut album HerStory, changed from brunette to blonde, lost about 10kgs, worked with over ten bands, learned over 150 new songs and harmonies, learned and choreographed dance moves for every show, worn out over 18 pairs of shoes from dancing and jumping up and down – from broken heels to cracked in half soles, performed at 15 venues in eight countries under 10 contracts, laughed and cried from all the hard work and sweat, paid off lots of bills, made zillions of long distant messages and calls, and met so many wonderful lifetime friends including the love of my life. It’s been a great way to build my fanbase even more whilst achieving what I set out to do. It’s just fabulous reminiscing over all the wonderful memorable moments :>
So yes, to clarify after this long run of 6-7 nights per week of performances for the last three years, it is now time to head home and change things up completely. Firstly, I’ll be taking a very loooonnng holiday (I haven’t had one in 1.5 years, so some chillaxing time is well overdue!). Thereafter, I will be pursuing a solo career, based in the Middle East. The ‘solo’ career will incorporate many aspects of music; songwriting, performances, voice-overs and studio recordings.
It all starts with the launch of a new website where you can comment on blogs, photos, news and top-tips at http://www.lisatheunissen.com.
Thank you to everyone who has made my journey so worthwhile, especially the musicians, staff and management that I have worked with daily and taken such wonderful care of me.
Special thanks always to my mentor, Eric-Jan Harmsen and family of Teatro Pereyra (http://www.teatropereyra.com); you gave me the platform to become the performer I am today from changing my image to giving me so much encouragement to be all you envisioned I could be – you gave me unending faith – thank you.
In the run up to Christmas mistletoe and the 2012 New Year, here’s to wishing you all a fantastic silly season of happiness.
News to follow shortly on my new endeavors…in the meantime it is time to rock out!
Love, light and much happiness
