Wow! What a week…okay, okay, so I started last Monday at Tony Moore’s ‘Let’s Talk Music’ at The Bedford. The topic was management, so of course I asked the panel what it takes to bridge the gap to find a manager. The answer was simple ‘you need a believer, someone that falls in love with your music and you as an artist, so that they drive it harder than you with the right intention – it’s a little like marriage’ and Robert Hart from Bad Company very kindly told me to ‘hang in kiddo’ and dedicated ‘Angel’ to me. It was such a fantastic night of passionate people in the music industry strutting their stuff and talking shop! The next one’s on publishing at the end of the month – if you’re an artist, then definitely don’t miss it! A bit later on, I got to play four songs and for those there they got to hear my new single…hhmmmm, well those not there will have to wait a while longer for me to reveal anymore…
Wednesday rolled on and after a seven-hour band rehearsal, I headlined my favourite Guildford spot, Fahrenheit 55. Thanks to everyone that popped in to check it out, you were a great crowd!
Thursday, I was pitching ‘Take A Back Seat, Boy!’ to potential sponsors at the British Motor Show, which was a whole lotta VaVaVoom! Yeah, well as an independent artist that is not yet a household name, there’s plenty of marketing and promotional things I can work on directly with brands. So if you wanna see the demographics, be involved and have some ideas we could roll out, then please drop me an email.
Saturday was a very special day as my two friends tied the knot and I had the priviledge of playing for them. So I wrote them a song as a gesture of thanks! That will be the second single release off my new album…watch this space! As well as that, my band got everyone on the dancefloor, and there was a very cute eight year old drummer that came on stage and jammed with us. He was soo good, I nearly replaced my drummer on the spot!
Ahh, then summery Sunday I got to big up some amazing artists at the 15 Minute Club, what talent! Next week Wednesday, I’ll be reviewing them on Delta Radio, when Keith Woodhouse interviews The Levellers. So, I’ll introduce some upcoming funklicious acts you should seriously check out 🙂
Yesterday, was a typical ‘Manic Monday’ and was definitely a ditzy day for me! Okay, okay – you might as well know that all I wanna do is sing, write and play…so when Patrick Alan from The Drifters wanted to know if I could sing…oh Lord, did he know! Last night, Mark Lundquist (agent for The Commitment, Gypsy Kings, ect) took me to The Pigalle Club – and you should have seen the acts there – woah, like hello! Anyway, after thinking it was my turn not just once but twice and being wrong both times standing on stage (oopsie-daisy) third time lucky I was called up…Yes and Patrick told me off for being such a naughty girl, so what did I do…errr sing Etta James’ ‘I Just Wanna Make Love To You’! Yeah, yeah, listen, I had the last train to catch…that’s the real reason I was so keen o perform!!!
Anyway, I’m going to try and MISbehave a bit more this week, hahaha! As the time has finally come for my band to support Never the Bride. It is always, and I mean ALWAYS, a brilliant night with Nikki, Been and the Boys and they’ll have surprise guests that will rock your socks off – so get down on it with us…you will not be able to do anything else other than ‘Woohoo, yeah Baby’!
Come out to play at the Bull’s Head in Barnes, London on Thursday, 31 July at 8pm sharp and shake your pom-poms, we’d love to see you…
Lotsa love
