Hi Everybody
How are you doing?!
Well, my gig out at Teatro Pereyra in Ibiza has been one of the most memorable and massive learning experiences I´ve had in my career. Performing six nights per week has taken my mindset to a new level and working with such a fab band has been even more thrilling. The stage is certainly my home, and if I ever had any doubts, well they are now gone!
So what´s life like abroad in Ibiza?! Well, I spend most of my time preparing through the day for the show each night. Sleep and training (vocally and physically) are my most essential ingredients I need to deliver the high-energy set of entertainment each night. There are four half-hour sets starting at 23:30, 00:30, 01:30 and 02:30 (Spanish timezone) and some nights we have a different audience in each set….really fascinating working with the audience in this way!
Teatro Pereyra is based in the old town of Ibiza, which is very laid back and I must say it´s pretty posh darling :> The night life is more mellow than San Antonio, but if you want to go clubbing then there are still various options to do that. My favourite thing is running/walking to the end of the port in the late afternoon and looking back at the old town which has a beautiful castle and just watching the ships roll in and out whilst ..sitting on the dock of the bay´ and then I kinda stroll back home watching the sunset. It´s pretty special out here.
I did come back to the UK for a brief visit, but Eric Harmsen extended my contract and so here I am back in the land of sunshine from 13 July until 29 August. I´m very blessed to have work in these very tough times and for those of you experiencing hard times, just hold on and keep the faith…it will all come right with changing times.
The band line up has a new dynamic as I now share my lead role with Johnson-Jay, a dear friend and superb musician I´ve worked with before back in the UK; plus Allan Christie (guitarist/vocalist); Luis Garcia (keys/bass); Rafael Garcés (saxophonist/pianist) and Tom Worrall (pianist/vocalist/drummer)! As well as that I now perform 7 nights a week and it´s about 25-30 degrees on stage…so a lot of hard work and focus required working in the hot, hot, hot heat of the night! Don´t forget the show is streamed online so you can tune in via http://http://www.awdio.com or just visit…
There have also been a lot of image changes I´ve gone through (thinner with short blonde hair!!!) and a HUGE thanks to Harmsen family, especially Beatriz, for working with me each day mentally and physically to help me reach ..higher ground´. You brought me back to my roots and I will always be ever grateful and humbled by your endless kindness in taking me under your wing.
As for my forthcoming album, I´m writing and putting it together and am also meeting the right people (can I just emphasise .. the right people´!). So my second album will happen, fear not for those that are afraid I´ve fallen into just singing covers and NOTE that singing covers is a brilliant way to uncover how songs are written, so it´s very good grounding. The one thing I´ve realised is that as a fulltime musician you need to earn a living from performing whilst writing, whilst paying bills, and I am now doing that. Being a musician is not straight forward, we have to compromise a lot of the normal things in life to be who we are. So whilst I know you love and support me, please know that I need to do this right now and it´s so good, so good, so good…singing everyday is essential for me to live, without it is like not breathing. So have no doubt I am here to stay and thank you for seeing me through so much, I´m really looking forward to the next part…I´m just one BIG smile! (By the way if you´re new to my fan club you might not understand this, but read my blogs and find out if you really wanna know…all I can say its all in the past, so no point actually going back to find out!!!)
Other than that, there are some more plans travelling and singing abroad for the rest of the year, which once I know more about I´ll let you know.
So, from sunshiny LT to you all, much love and light!
Miss T
