Ladies and Gentleman
Well it’s been 6 months…and I’ve been trying soooooo hard not to spill the beans as to what I’ve been up to. Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know you’ve been emailing, tweeting and facebooking but now I can say WASSSSSUUUUUP…
The reason I have taken sooooo long to blog you is because the last 6 months I have been so inbetween places. So massive apologies, but I’ve needed to be sure as to whether my job is the right one from their side and mine. From rehearsals to the actual show it has been the next step of a challenge that I have needed. Yes, so I’m on the road again, but I needed to spread my wings in showmanship. I’m not sure how long it will take but I am working with incredible people that inspire, push and move me to new levels I’ve needed to go to.
Okay, okay…so what has happened?! Well the World Cup 2010 of course…yes, yes, yes…there was no way I was going to miss at least the beginning of that! My family helped me organise a few gigs, with this industry it’s all about who you know. One of the venue’s was a great acoustic show with Jason Hartman’s musicians (he’s the SA pop idol and for us ladies he’s simply ‘hot’!!!), not losing focus…but I did have the honour of playing with Josh Thatcher and David Cousins. The few gigs at this groovy little restaurant still had feet stomping and clapping going down…thank you, we love all that kinda vibe whilst on stage! To add to that, Mr Edwards – http://www.mredwards.co.za, a profound DJ that can rock out any joint and get you dancing…so he asked me to sing a bit at one of his gigs…well all I can say is that the tunes kept spinning and melodies flowing ’til early early morning at Cocoon in Sandton, Johannesburg. So much fun and with the World Cup spirit moving across South Africa, especially in Jo’burg…it was such an amazing place to be performing. HOWEVER…the best part of being in South Africa, was having my family and closest friends seeing me perform and be a part of this, as most of the time whilst I’m gigging is that I am not home for them to see what I do. I love you guys, MWAH XXX
Now whilst all this SA hype was going on…I had landed a job singing in a band through an agency, http://www.el-live.com, that books musicians to perform all through Asia for a year or so. It’s early days for me…(still on probation, so trying to behave…HAHAHA!). At the moment I’m in Singapore playing in a band called MaXimum – http://www.facebook.com/maximumband – at Brix, Grand Hyatt Hotel. This is an incredible group of musicians that rock it out 6 nights a week regardless of anything…to me it feels like Friday everyday on stage! They are simply brilliant and I’m V proud to be part of it. Mostly from USA/Canada…Let me introduce you to: Kyle Lassalle, a vocalist/rapper that can rock or hip-hop your world like you ladies (and gents) have no idea; next up is our Golden, Nicole Davis, Diva Dynamite…a phenomenal vocalist nailing any Rihanna, Beyonce, Jackson song…and the list goes on and on; then Greg Lassalle who can sing all our harmonies in his sleep as a bat plus play keys…he’s also our band leader and whips us into fine shape set after set – and trust me he misses nothing; then we have guitarist/vocalist who we call our secret weapon – Frederic Joyal – who can play any style like he was part of that era and then completely rock your world so you have whiplash from headbanging (‘Kravitz’ kicking serious you know what); over to the bass slapping artist is Ricardo Ranito from Portugal…the groove is right there baby, so clean and even more dirrty, ooohhweee; and last of all is who we call Pretty Boy ‘Parker’…Mr-Rhythm-Booty-Shaking-Soul I am having the best time working with everyone whether it’s their song or mine…we dance and sing our souls out…no matter the sweat! So here with them until the end of August, and then I’ll be working with another el-live Productions band, called Liquid – http://el-live.com/liquid.shtml, and will be based in Oman for 4 months. You’ll be hearing more about this soon enough! My brother was saying ‘say what, where you going next?!’ jokingly…but all I can say is remember to think about what we do musically across Asia…some placees you may think…errrr…but with the bands I work with it’s all about what we do music-wise. Our aim is move, groove and let you lose yourself in music whatever your reason and no matter where in the world that is! All I can say is join me on this journey!
Songwriting…I know you’re nagging me for new stuff but…hold your horses, there’s progress being made and let’s see what magic happens in the next year. It will be worth the wait. Just think it’s been 3 years since I’ve been singing, writing and releasing music as a full-time career…so to me it is early days. There’s so much to more….
BIG, HUGE, MASSIVE thanks to my family, friends and fans…your ongoing belief always drives me to keep on reaching for the stars.
No matter what your challenge, unless you rise you’ll never know how to fall. Seeing as I’m blonde now, all I’d advise is let it be gracefully…then get up and go all over again :>
Chat, blog, tag and keep in touch….love to you all
