Dearest Fans
How are you keeping?
In the last few weeks I started performing at Bahri Bar, also part of Mina A Salam, Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with my guitarist Shay Olewale. This is on top of playing down in Abu Dhabi every Tuesday with Stoyan Stoyanov at Sorso, Ritz Carlton and Friday Brunch at Mina A Salam. It is a lot of hard work and focus performing 5 times per week, but a great opportunity to work new crowds. Last Thursday at Bahri Bar we brought the house down due to the fantastic audience who didn’t want us to stop…3 encores later, it was a night of complete joy :> As mentioned in my previous blog, I’m working furiously hard to fund the production of my next album, which I can hopefully do something big with in the near future.
So we’ve just wrapped up mixing Drown The Pain, now working on Gotta Let Go and Gonna Make This Right. Back in 2002 I wrote “Gonna Make This Right” whilst studying music at Brunel University. For the end of year performance exam, the lecturer and good friend, Frank Griffith, specifically said no original music can be performed. So we performed my song and got the highest mark! At the end of the performance Frank asked who the composer is, and I replied jokingly oh just some famous South African artist! Always remember that nothing can stop you, you can do anything if you just believe and persevere. In the studio recording this song now, feels sooo good! “This is the time to get it together, get it together make up for lost time. Get up & go is all I’m gonna do now. Time is precious, the time is now.” Gonna Make This Right, Lisa Theunissen © 2002 #studiotime #rebel #goforplatinum Can’t wait for you to hear what I’m hearing!
It’s sometimes tricky balancing daytime in the studio and night time show schedules without burning out too fast too soon, but great care is in place so it’s all good :>
Last week my band were part of another big event in Dubai, performing at the after party for the Julius Baer Beach Polo Cup 2013. We were placed in the centre of the polo field on a stage whilst projected on big screens all through the stadium and Lionel Richie was there…it was incredible to say the least!
“Sometimes the pain gives you the motivation. The motivation to be someone now. I like that feeling, yes I’m gonna make it. I’m gonna make this right.”
Stay tuned…lots more to follow :>
Love
