Hello World!
How are you doing?
After 5 glorious weeks of holiday with my family, I am back in the Middle East rearing to go!
My musical life has now progressed from a contracted resident performer to freelance artist working with The Fridge Dubai. Here I will do one-off weekly performances plus private corporate shows. Giving me time to concentrate on my songwriting, which I am very excited getting my teeth back into – it’s about time!
The first week I travelled to Dubai to meet the new band members and The Fridge team. It was a busy schedule of meetings and long rehearsals daily to be ready for the Jumeirah Madinat Gala Evening for an audience of 2000 guests, with a Fantasy and Fairytales theme. Lord, did my nerves shake!!! I am always nervous beforehand but once on stage it’s like the magic ignites me and then I have the time of my life enticing the audience slowly until they all run to the dance-floor. Sheweee…was I relieved that they did.
Following that, my first regular booking is every Friday from 12:30-16:00, where I will be performing with pianist Stoyan Stoyanov at Al Muna restaurant, Mina A Salam Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. The views are beautiful and you can eat your heart whilst being serenaded through the afternoon, with a selection of soul, pop and rock hits to sing along and dance to :> Be sure to make a reservation, as it is fully booked most of the time.
For the last 6 months I have been writing articles about life as a musician for el-live Productions. The topics include songwriting, record label, touring, health, wardrobe, living abroad, money making music and media exposure as an artist. For musicians just starting it is an insight of what the demands of being a musician are, whilst advising already professional artists on how to apply for a job as a resident singer abroad, the pros and cons of agencies, a checklist rider and much, much more. There are some 70 articles so far, so I hope the information provided is helpful. I keep joking that by the time I finish this project there will be substantial material to write a book. If you’re an interested publisher, do contact me, hahaha! For your reading pleasure: http://www.lisatheunissen.com/blog/tips.
Other than that, it’s wonderful to be free again, taking the experiences from before and moulding them into my vision, which is still world domination of course :> As I set-up shop in a newish territory I am a realist that there will be challenges, but I’m looking forward to all of these as it’s part of the road ahead.
Thank you for all the amazing messages whilst I was away, as well as the support from all the years to everyone around the world. May our paths cross again!
Have a wonderful week and speak soon.
Love, light and happiness
Miss T
